The ECAS supports emergency SMS to 112 from mobile subscribers in Ireland. Mobile Network Operators and Mobile Virtual Network Operators who provide an SMS Service to their subscribers’ i.e. providing a dedicated SMSC instances to subscribers of that network will need to interconnect directly to the ECAS SMS Gateways for SMS transport and termination of Emergency SMS messages from their subscribers.

Mobile Network Operators directly interconnected for Emergency SMS will need to enter into the LIRO agreement with ECAS including schedule 6 to the LIRO which covers SMS Interconnection.
